Important pre-christian tribal or council gathering sites. Old records show that sometimes these would be held at stone circles – but where we know this occurred, it’s best to check them under the ‘Stone Circles’ category. Many times, moots were held under old trees, on hillsides, rock outcrops, and other places. Court decisions were made here which, once passed by the elders of the tribe/s, became lawful.
